Bilbao von Urban Archive

This series was created during a stay in Bilbao in March 2025. Rather than focusing on well-known landmarks, I was drawn to fragments of the city — corners of buildings, light moving across surfaces, and details that often go unnoticed. What stood out to me in Bilbao is its layered character. Old and new architecture exist side by side, sometimes in contrast, sometimes almost blending together. By focusing on form and structure, the images shift away from documenting place and move towards rhythm, material and composition. The series moves between the recognisable and the abstract. Some images clearly show buildings or streets, while others focus on light, color and shape. This variation turns the city into a collection of impressions rather than a single, fixed image. For me, this work is about looking without urgency. About noticing what usually passes by. Together, the images form a calm and layered collection that fits naturally into an interior where subtlety and structure matter.
